Restaurant & Executive Chef Highlight

the_wine_loft For a late night big city feel in the heart of Kalamazoo, The Wine Loft is the perfect place to catch up with friends, enjoy a wine tasting, and sometimes even meet the wine makers. Housed in the historic “Haymarket” building in Downtown Kalamazoo, the Wine Loft is proud to be a part of such a cool legacy.  You can read a little about the building if you enter into the building from ‘Lot 9′ in the rear.  There is a sign posted near the elevators which reads:

“Renovated in 1981, this building became “The Haymarket” due to the location of the Municipal Hay Market in the late 1800’s directly north of this site.  Originally constructed in 1908, the building was the home of the Edwards and Chamberlin Hardware Company until it became Kalamazoo’s downtown location for Sears, Roebuck and Co.”

Millennium Restaurant Group took over operations of the Wine Loft in February of 2011. Upon acquiring the Wine Loft, the decision was made to expand the menu and beverage offerings. The decor was left virtually untouched as the previous owners went to great lengths to bring out the natural beauty of the old building. Exposed brick walls, original beams and the cozy loft space make for a really warm and inviting atmosphere. As an 11-year veteran with Millennium Restaurant Group, Chef James Allen heads our Kitchen and does and incredible job with the food. It is simply delicious. We’re here for you to grab a bite after a show, or just unwind after work. We believe our menu and beverage selections have something for everyone. Chef Billy James Allen has been a

member of the Millennium

Restaurant Group for over ten

years, where he worked under

five current and former

Millennium chefs. Chef Allen

helped open up the Fieldstone

Grill and Central City tap House.

He also served as Sous Chef at

Epic Bistro for five years. He now

serves as Head Chef at The Wine Loft.

His specialty is Mediterranean cuisine.

Kaitlyn Johnson, Sales Talent Acquisition Specialist

Stryker

Kaitlyn is a Sales Talent Acquisition Specialist for Stryker Instruments in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has been with Stryker since November 2014. Previously she was an Analyst, Training and Development Specialist for HUMANeX Ventures. Along with volunteering as the Culinary Chair for this year’s Signature Chefs Auction, Kaitlyn is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and the Ocean Reef Club.
